We’ve been participating in independent reading for over a month now. Tell us the name of the book you’ve been reading. Would you recommend it to others? What is it that you are enjoying about it? Also, choose a passage from your book that you find particularly interesting and include it in this post–be sure to tell us why you chose that passage.
Thanks,
Mrs. Styles

I am reading Stargirl for independent reading. It is a good book and I would recommend it to others. I really enjoyed the scene where Cinnamon was digging around in Leo’s ear. I like this scene for a couple of reasons: I like animals and it was so funny to read about a rat digging around Leo’s ear. How many people do you know that can say that they had the opportunity to have a rat cleaning their ears out?

The book i read for independant reading is called Drums, Girls And Dangerous Pie. This is a book that i would recomend to others. I liked that the book was predictable but there were still surprises. It was sad but not too sad. Happy but not too happy. My favorite passage is when Steven finds out that Samantha died and the nurse returns his favorite sticks with Sam’s note. He gets upset because Sam told him how much she loves her sisiter and he finds out that she wasn’t there when sam died. I like it because it shows that he has grown more sincere and compassionate towards others and that he cares about the small things that are most important to people.

You had already won. ” “Knocking him down won the first fight.I wanted to win all the next one’s too. So they’d leav me alone” that is whai i call stratigy. tis book is all about fighting in space . We have been reading Stargirl. I would not recomend this book to others because it is very narrow minded about being different. However, I do like a many of the metaphors the author uses to express his points.

I am reading Stargirl for independent reading. I do not like this book at all. I feel it lacks in the plot area. Plus this book contains no suspense or climax. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

My independent reading book is Phantoms by Dean Koontz. This book is full of mystery and death. I would reecomend this book to anyone who likes not knowing what is gonna happen in the next scene. One of my favorite parts in the book is when they go into the hotel room and find no one is there but there is writing on the bathroom mirror. When they go back down to the front lobby they find a severed pair of hands and the black eye liner that was used to write on the mirror. I liked this chapter because it is the point where they realize whatever killed all the people is still in town.

We are reading Stargirl and it’s a pretty good book. I would recommend it to others because it shows a time in someone’s life when they were wierd or different. I think everybody is a little wierd anyway. That’s what makes life interesting. My favorite passage in the book so far is when Stargirl changes her personality for Leo. I think she should have just stayed the way she was. If Leo really liked her he would’nt have cared how she dressed.
